Program Coordinator, Nursing Practice & Research


Collaborates with Palomar Health Leadership and stakeholders to best serve patient needs in educational program offerings for staff. Responsible for the design, development and ongoing enhancements of comprehensive district wide New Graduate Nurse Residency and New to Specialty Programs for successful on-boarding, up, upskilling and education of nursing department staff utilizing the latest evidence-based practices. Serves as a mentor for those novice to expert nurses. Manages the educational contracts and leverages technology to enhance program offerings. Leads the coordination and planning of district wide Annual Skills and works collaboratively with the unit/specialty based Nurse Education Specialist's/ Clinical Nurse Specialists and unit leadership. Is a program ambassador and communicates effectively to a wide audience, from Board Members to Staff. Proactively seeks and implements solutions to enhance program offerings and evaluates the delivery of those services to optimize effectiveness with a variety of stakeholders and improve patient outcomes. Communicates, collaborates, networks with and acts as a consultant to other members of the health care team regarding educational curriculum development and evaluation. Participates in quality/process improvement activities and utilizes research and evidence to advance the level of education provided, using data to drive change and modify programs. Facilitates and supports the change process. Participates in Palomar Health committees and councils as member, leader or consultant as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Job Requirements


Minimum Education:
Masters Degree in Nursing, nursing education, or education

Preferred Education:
Not Applicable

Minimum Experience:
5 years clinical experience within last seven years relevant to practice setting

Preferred Experience:
2 - 5 years experience as CNS or clinical educator

Required Certification:
American Heart Association recognized BLS - Healthcare Provider

Preferred Certification:
Certification in specialty area of practice or role

Required License:
Current CA RN License

Preferred License:
