UIW Mission


Position Summary
The Coordinator of International Student & Visitor Activities is responsible for the design, planning, and execution of a wide range of programs and activities sponsored by the Division of International Affairs. A critical component of the job is the administration and general oversight of UIW two-week summer camp serving international junior and senior high school students. The Coordinator of International Student & Visitor Activities reports to the Director of International Student & Scholar Services.

  • Strong budget management skills;
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision and demonstrated ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team;
  • Strong computer skills;
  • Strong organizational, project and time management skills with the ability to prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and constituents concurrently;
  • Familiarity with U.S. immigration regulations, invitation correspondence and travel documents required for all visa types;
  • Strong grasp of office protocols and professional practices;
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively and work with a variety of individuals and groups at all organizational levels
  • Ability to effectively evaluate policies and exercise good judgment in interpretation and application;
  • Ability to effectively analyze different situations and challenges and resolve problems;
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others;
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.


Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. Note that an Associate's Degree with two (2) additional years of relevant experience will be considered.


Required Work Experience
Two (2) years of professional experience in program management, hospitality management, higher education administration, student advising, or a relevant area.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous hospitality experience welcoming guests and familiar with frequent customers and their special requests;
  • Prior experience with summer university programs and short-term visitor programs;
  • Second language fluency in Spanish;
  • Prior experience as a DSO/ARO and knowledge of F-1/J-1 visa regulations;
  • Prior experience with international recruitment activities and efforts;
  • Experience studying and/or working overseas;
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and best practices in international program models.


Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
  • Must be U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident to serve as ARO as required by federal law;
  • Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.


Work Hours
Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with flexibility, especially during peak periods, to meet departmental goals, with extended hours as needed.Note that flexibility and willingness to work varied and non-traditional hours during visiting group visits and summer camps is required.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 15lbs for table set-up/tear-down at events as well as program materials.
  • Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat to retrieve events materials.
  • Ability to push/pull carts holding program material bins weighing up to 45 lbs.
  • Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage program participants, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
