Experience, special skills, licenses:    

Microsoft Office at the intermediate level or above. Medical terminology, clinical trials, billing & Negotiating skills, and QuickBooks experience preferred.

Physical Demands and Environment    

This position operates in an office environment using standard office equipment. It is largely a deskbound role. Some filing is required involving the ability to lift files, open cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The position requires the individual to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and arms, or to be able to type and communicate electronically without impediment.

General Summary/Objective:
The Budget/Clinical Trials Coverage Analyses Analyst is responsible for duties associated with budget and coverage analysis development and negotiation.

Job Functions:

  1. Functions as a key contact person between BRANY staff, sites, pharmaceutical companies, or CROs for Budget and Clinical Trials Coverage Analyses (CTCA) issues.
  2. Reviews, edits and negotiates budgets with Pharmaceutical Companies on a per trial basis to maximize revenue.
  3. Processes budget and contract amendments
  4. Edits and returns comments on budgets within 24 – 48 hours of their receipt.
  5. Follows up with sponsor and site on a timely basis to ensure a rapid turnaround of all budgets.
  6. Develop Clinical Trials Coverage Analyses and billing grids for qualifying clinical trial projects that include routine (standard of care) costs vs. research related costs.
  7. Document and disseminate determinations to sites.
  8. Prepares Study Memoranda appropriate for each clinical trial, outlining the terms of indemnification, publication, confidentiality and specifies budget details accordingly as needed.
  9. Identifies items that require invoices in the final contract and distinguishes pass through/overhead items to ensure invoices generated by staff members accurately reflect Administrative Fees, Upfront payments and Advances.
  10. Ensures that final contract terms are consistent with the Institutional Review Board approved informed consent document for each study as appropriate.
  11. Requests Fund number’s from sites for payment purposes as needed.
  12. Updates appropriate databases and spreadsheets as required.
  13. Routinely updates management about the status of ongoing projects.
  14. Train and develop new or inexperienced staff in the Department or BRANY staff.
  15. Assist management or Department staff in other activities as needed.
  16. Use communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships outside of BRANY as needed.
  17. Use writing skills to effectively communicate via email and written correspondence.
  18. Work independently, take initiative and troubleshoot daily routine problems as they occur. Develop or recommend a plan of corrective action for non-routine issues.
